- I was putting together my first audio system in years and found that the combination of these speakers and receiver didn't have enough bass. This was a result of both the speakers and the receiver I paired it with. The receiver was a brand new Harman Kardon HK 3390 (80 watts/channel). The receiver doesn't have a "loudness" feature for lower listening levels and as a result these small speakers simply don't have the low-end for low volume conditions. If you pair these with a sub-woofer or an equalizer (it has pre-amp/amp jumpers in the back) they will probably be just fine. For me, I'll be shopping for a sub-woofer. - These speakers sound great for their price range. They are not high end speakers but then again they don't cost what high end speakers do. I use these for the front speakers of my 7.1 surround sound setup. They do quite well. They are not overly tinny with highs and do have good frequency response overall. I would use them for general purpose stereo speakers as well, as long as the application didn't require a lot of volume in a large room. Other than that, I highly recommend them. The price on Amazon was vastly cheaper than on a lot of other sites at the time of my purchase, about $85 VS $130. Great speakers.
