I have a smaller living room so the fancy mic set-up wasn't necessary. I played with the audio set up till I messed bad enough to where the back speakers didn't work. Google, hold VCR and power on the receiver, back to out of the box settings. Perfect.The HDMI pass through is nice, but you have to have the receiver on to see or hear anything. - This Onkyo is really amazing. Works as advertised. I just plugged it in, and from the first moment the sound has been impressive. As I have learned how to use the receiver the sound has improved dramatically. The options on this unit for the price make it really hard to beat. I have it networked into my home network and the internet music streaming options work great!! You can access nearly any music station you want.
