Kicker 6.5Inch Shallow Mount Subwoofer 4 Ohm
  • I bought this speaker to replace the original sub in my 2002 Jeep Wrangler. I did have to modify the original sub enclosure which worked out fine. I then bought a 300 watt max (150 RMS) Audio Pipe amplifier to run this speaker. I did not want the amp exposed so I removed the center console storage that is above the sub enclosure. The amp is a little large to fit in that spot but with some cleaver install work it is nice and snug sitting on top of the sub enclosure. After using the Ohms Law I found on YouTube (video by MTX), the speaker sounds great and adds great low and mids. It even hits the lows pretty good on certain songs. It didn't sound so great before tweaking the Gain, LPF and head unit…
  • I bought this to replace my 2003 Jeep Rubicon blown subwoofer. I am using the stock amp and only one set of wires. It seems that the amp will only do 40 watts x1 @ 2 ohm. (20 watts with a 4 ohm) with only one coil, there is no way to bridge the amp since its a BTL (bridge tied load) integrated circuit chip. You will need a real amp to realize the full potential of this speaker. I am using for front mid-bass and it sounds great. Its not going to get loud but its a nice low fill to any stock system. Still going to need a real subwoofer for loud low bass; in a Jeep at least.
