- As I was setting this up I kept saying over and over "IT JUST SHOULD NOT BE THIS DIFFICULT!!" I bought this to replace a 'first generation' 5.1 surround sound system I got many years ago.About me, I'm not an idiot when it comes to A/V gear and I can set most anything up. However, this was a challenge to get running. It is not a 'plug and play' piece of equipment. You can't simply read the input / output labels and intuitively set it up. First, it absolutely will not do anything until you do a full speaker calibration. - I had the same Pioneer Home Theater system just a much older model (almost 10 years older!) before I bought this one to replace it (lost it in the divorce!). This unit works just as well and sounds GREAT!! I am thrilled to have all of the more modern 2011 conveniences of multiple HDMI ports, RDY for my DVD player, a USB port with ipod controls, etc. that my old unit was to dated for. Very happy so far! Need to read the manual to figure out how to operate half of everything, but the old unit was just as complex!
